Merci beaucoup Liisa pour cette jolie lettre, envoyée le 30 mai 2017 de Mariehamn, la capitale de l'archipel d'Åland, affranchie avec le timbre EUROPA mis en circulation le 9 mai 2017 (Journée de l'Europe) et ayant pour thème cette année les châteaux !
Ce timbre (tarif permanent "Europe" - 1,40€ actuellement, tirage : 130000) a été conçu à partir d'une photographie en hiver du château de Kastelholm ("Kastelholms slott" en suédois) par Niclas Nordlund et imprimé (par Cartor Security Printing) en feuille composée de 24 timbres avec marge centrale.
La poste d'Åland n'a pas eu l'embarras du choix puisque ce château de Kastelholm est le seul château répertorié sur l'archipel...
Thank you very much Liisa for this great letter sent on May 30, 2017 from Mariehamn, the capital of the Åland archipelago, franked with the EUROPA stamp put into circulation on May 9, 2017 (Europe Day) and devoted to the theme of the castles!
That stamp (Permanent "Europe"rate - € 1.40 currently, print run : 130,000) was designed from a photograph in winter of Kastelholm Castle ("Kastelholms slott" in Swedish) by Niclas Nordlund and printed (by Cartor Security Printing) in a sheet consisting of 24 stamps with central gutter.
The Post of Åland had not a big choice since this Kastelholm castle is the only castle listed on the archipelago...
Ce château de Kastelholm est un château médiéval (début du 14ème siècle) situé sur la commune de Sund, le cœur historique de cet archipel d'Åland dont il est une des principales attractions touristiques aujourd'hui.
A partir du 16ème siècle, la forteresse a été transformée en château, le roi Gustave Ier de Suède y résidant alors pendant plusieurs mois lors de la période de chasse. A partir de 1634, le château a été abandonné lorsqu'Åland a perdu son statut de centre administratif puis tomba en ruine après un incendie en 1745. Une importante campagne de restauration a eu lieu entre 1982 et 2001.
A côté de ce château, le célèbre chef Michael Björklund a ouvert son restaurant Smakbyn en 2012.
A noter que ce château était déjà représenté sur un timbre émis en 1997, consacré au 600ème anniversaire de l'Union de Kalmar.
This Kastelholm castle is a medieval castle (early 14th century) located in the town of Sund, the historical heart of Åland archipelago, of which it is one of the main tourist attractions today.
From the 16th century, the fortress was transformed into a castle, where King Gustav I of Sweden resided for several months during the hunting season. From 1634 the castle was abandoned when Åland lost its status as an administrative center and then fell into ruins after a fire in 1745. A major restoration campaign took place between 1982 and 2001.
Next to this castle, the famous chef Michael Björklund opened his restaurant Smakbyn in 2012.
To note that this castle was already depcited on a stamp issued in 1997, dedicated to the 600th anniversary of the Kalmar Union.
